Toss – New Zealand won the toss, elected to bat first.
1st Innings – Excellent start by New Zealand scoring at a rate of 9 an over by Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson. At the end of batting power play, NZ were 55/0 in 6 overs.
Martin made an excellent innings scoring 80 off 48 balls with 10 fours and 3 sixes. Once NZ lost Guptill at 127/3 I 14.3 balls, it was all expected from the middle order to make a great finsh. Ross Taylor and Corey Anderson helped to NZ reach a giant score of 180/5 in 20 overs.
2nd Innings – That was one great, we would have ever seen from Sharjeel Khan, he scored 47 off just 27 balls with 9 fours and 1 six. Pakistan were 66/1 in 6 overs, losing important wicket of Sharjeel.
After power play, it was all New Zealand’s spinner show till the end. Pakistan batsmen found it difficult to play against them. As no one after Sharjeel carried the innings, Pakistan lost the match by 22 runs by scoring 158/5 in 20 overs.
New Zealand not only won by 22 runs, but also became the first team to qualify for the semi-final spot from Group 2.
