Toss – West Indies won the toss, opted to bowl first.
1st innings – After losing the toss, South Africa didn’t have expected to have such a bad start. Losing Hashim Amla and du Plessis in first 2 overs, brought great pressure on the SA’s. They lost Rilee on 20 and South Africa had just the worst start ever.
At the end of batting powerplay, South Africa were 39/3. AB helped Quinton de Kock to form a little partnership, but end up losing his wicket at 4/46 in 8th over. Due to the Quinton’s 47 and Wiese 28, South Africa reach an okay target of 122/8 in 20 overs.
2nd innings – Getting a target of 123 in 20 overs, South Africa managed to take a quick and important wicket of Chris Gayle on just the 5th ball of the over. West Indies managed to score 37/2 in 6 overs.
WI cruised ahead scoring boundaries, but kept on losing wickets on crucial part of the wicket. Not having enough partnership, Marlon Samuels alone set to be the backbone of WI innings scoring 44 in 44 balls.
The equation came down to 9 runs to win in 6 balls. WI easily scored by 6 of the 2nd ball and winning the match by 3 wickets.
